How do you view the AoF use of Xfire?
Very good, nothing really needs added.

Was trying to think of some ideas for how we could use Xfire better but I really cant think of anything so I decided I would post a poll to see how you all think about it.

Maybe it is fine how it is?
Maybe we could do some more things on it?
Maybe we could use it a lot more?

Answer the poll and PLEASE POST any ideas for it here.

Let us know how you think of it and your ideas for it.

Personally I think it is good right now but maybe we could use it more in AoF. I get to talk to a lot more of the community now using Xfire, before I might not speak to them a lot cause they were always in a different branch than me. Take Kevlar for example, never really talked to him a lot these days cause i never seen him in game but with xfire we can chat easily when we want.

We could set up an [AoF] clan page if there isn't one already? You can register your clan on XFire and it gives you stats about your clan and lots of things like that. Also I reckon everyone should get the XFire sig so we can keep track of each others activity! Good to see if players have been playing or not. Haha

But do give an answer for the poll of course!!! Smile

Ghosty, it is not helpful to say it is bad and could use alot more without saying what else it could use.

I personally think it is okay and but could use alot more. The first and most obvious thing it could use more of is members. We should make sure that all of the branch leaders let everyone know to register and download XFire. Another thing that we could do is create a chat room using XFire and invite all of the members who are on to join so we could all talk there. The alliance page we have set up is pretty useless overall because we have this site so i dont suggest that we try to use that more. I think we should keep that the way it is and use it mainly to just add new members to the Alliance on there so we are all able to chat on the XFire client.

Yes please post why you think bad.

So at the moment Char561 you think more members on it would be good?

Also i have been trying to figure out how to create a chat room which can be saved even when everyone has left it. Am sure i did it before but i can't figure it out again. As soon as i do i will get one going and invite the whole member list to it.

Thank you Smile

Well am going try host regular group chats with voice chat as well most of the time.

Will ask Existence to get the word to the discovery members about Xfire and i'll tell others as well. That should hopefully get more members on it.

Lol, wish Geromix would wise up, like Xfire and use it... Haven't properly talked to him for sooooo long!

We need everyone in AoF on Xfire really. XD It'd make it easier to tell everyone who cares instantly if there's like... Black_Legion taking over AoF's Base in The Void. Ya know?

Lol,i don't have much time for chat, but i will get more in coming weeks.

I think Ikariam branch has a good chance for more co-operation through XFire,i have given up on Ogame branch though.

I don't know much about the situation in PP.

Publicity is really important, once we make this a habit, things will really improve.

How many members do we have now?

I think it is good, especially for inviting people for events (I remember once or twice managing to get about 3 AoF on for a few Reaver fights...). Currently it's alright, but people do need to log into it more often.

Personally, I have no problems with it, apart from having all of 3 people to talk to thanks to my time zone. I think we need to get people getting headsets or something, make it easier to connect by talking rather than typing.

As for publicity... maybe we should use more. And invite friends from whatever branch you are in. This probably means inviting everyone from every branch you are in, which really brings up an issue with Xfire for me: why can't you put your friends into categories? I keep mixing up people from FL with people from Ikariam and inviting them to an Event... which gets kind of confusing. For both of us. Embarassed

Well we have 18 members on the Xfire list, not all are active as well so we should get more people into using it.

Also GOOD NEWS! I found out how to save chat rooms, when hosting one you go to tools and select save. As long as this is selected when you go to the main xfire menu and select servers this will allow you to join the chat room at any time. So i believe when other members come online they should be able to do this and join the room, i need to test this but...

Comfort, a few of us do use mics and the chat room I have hosted will run voice chat on it using the Xfire free pro voice server. You can also do this with any chat rooms you make.

Also you can put people into groups such as Fl: Void group or w/e. Just right click on anyone in your friend list and at the top it should say Add custom group...

You can then name the group and select what friends you want in it, you just have to find out who plays what so you can add them to a Void group etc...

Oh i also asked Existence to remind members on Discovery to get Xfire, Silverfox had tech problems with it though Mad

Also i look forward to annoying you on Xfire Geromix Twisted Evil

*EDIT*

Ok this is important for the chat room thing. These are instructions on how to join a saved chat room using the Xfire SHADOW skin.

On your xfire menu you can see six small boxes on the left side with names such as friends, screenshots etc. One is called chat rooms, select it. Now Existence informs me you use a search feature to find the AoF one which is called aof chat room.

Also you can save chat rooms in this list by going to tools on the chat room menu and selecting save. This will save the room on the chat room section of the xfire menu for you to use at any time.

THE WAY TO DO ALL THIS MAY VARY IN DIFFERENT SKINS, ONE ABOVE IS SHADOW SKIN INSTRUCTIONS.

Am not sure how well this works exactly and i think you might need to have been invited to the AoF chat room before to do this. I will try get people to do this and get feedback.

It's true, I can't download Xfire for some unknown reason.

I click on Download, I hear a bleep, which I normally do. That bleep tells me that my computer has blocked the download for security reasons. Now, on EVERY SINGLE OTHER DOWNLOAD I have ever done, I have been able to override this by right clicking on a bar that appears on the top of my window. The problem here is, the bar doesn't appear, so I can't override it... I even tried turning the firewall off temporaily... no luck. Sad

Can anyone here help me? I want Xfire...

Btw, Titan, my name is DualKatanas, not Silver fox. I thought I had put existence straight about that... Evil or Very Mad

Did you make sure to turn off anti-virus software as well as firewalls? Also try removing cookies and things like that. I'll try get some other advice for you as well.

If you haven't already then try http://www.xfire.com/cms/xf_help/ and see if you can get anything from there. I had a look but didn't see anything on download problems for xfire.

I've tried everything, turning off antivirus, trying different browsers... I tried to download it from two other different places, and the same thing happened... No

However, I think I've come up with a solution. If the download includes an installer of any shape or form, you should be able to attach it to an email.

Solution is, attach the installer to an email and send it to me at DualKatanas@hotmail.co.uk.

I'm getting very annoyed at my hotmail account right now... Head bang

It blocked the attachment, said it was a security threat. I've done everything I can to try and clear it, but no luck... Head bang Head bang Head bang

Thanks for sending it, though, it might work if you put it in a zipped folder, or maybe something else, I dunno, I'm not experienced with these things...

Alternatively, send it to wright989@btinternet.com, my family email.
